On a sunny morning in March 2009, the Mule was woken by the now familiar sms from the Donkey

The Mule had a headache.  He called back saying that he was too hung over for the gym, but that he was going to test ride a BMW 1200GS Adventure later that day, and did the Donkey want to come along for a look?

“Why a BMW?”  thought the Donkey, he was confused and unable to commit to any decision on the spot, so the Mule told him to think about it and call back.

A few hours later, the Donkey and the Mule were on the road.

Neither the Donkey or the Mule liked the bikes, but that didn't matter, the seed was sown.

It was a little mischievous of the Mule to spring the idea on the Donkey that way, but he knew how much the Donkey likes new things, and he thought the idea of a new bike for a new adventure would be too much for the Donkey to be left out of.

The Donkey had some reservations.  Work, relationships, finances, his garden.

The Mule had reservations too, but he’d made up his mind, there was no going back.

Sometime later the Donkey confided...

“I cant believe he was thinking about going without me!”

It’s a dream we all have, of packing up and heading off somewhere more interesting than here, wherever that might be.

But we have families, mortgages and jobs to consider.  Or we might not have anyone to go with, or we can’t afford it, and we’re probably a little scared of the idea too, so we don't do it.

We decided to make this trip after the passing away of our father, because the idea that we might not ever do it, scared us more than the idea itself.

So this one’s dedicated to you Dad.
